Birth Light finds the star whose light reaching Earth this year left it the year someone was born, and turns it into a card. These terms cover buying one.

What you buy

• A digital card ($19): a link to their card, ready when you pay, for you to send them. We email you a reminder at 8 AM on the day you pick.
• A printed card ($49): a 5 × 7 inch folded card, printed in the US by our print partner (Dreamship) in 1–3 business days and mailed to a US address, plus the digital card.

The star

We don’t sell, own or name stars, and nobody can. We pick a real star from the HYG catalog (Hipparcos, Yale Bright Star and Gliese catalogs) whose distance in light-years matches the birth year. Distances are measured, so the match is to the year: within months for people in their 30s, within a year or two for people in their 70s and 80s.

Your account

You sign in with your email and a one-time code. Your account keeps your cards and gets the birthday reminders.

Refunds

If anything goes wrong with a card, write to us and we refund it in full.

Payments

Payments are taken by Stripe. We never see your card number.
